Self-Employed Weekend Support Worker (1 Weekend in 4)

Supporting a Young Man Living with a Learning Disability in the Community

Job Description

Bristol & South Gloucestershire | Self-Employed | £18/hr

Looking for a role where you can slow down, build trust, and genuinely make a difference to someone’s quality of life?

At Your Care, we believe good support takes time. Since 2014, we’ve supported people across Bristol and South Gloucestershire with a more personal, relationship-led approach.

We are currently looking for the right person to support a young man living with a learning disability in the community on Saturdays and Sundays, 10:00am – 4:00pm, one weekend in every four.

This is not a rushed care round or back-to-back visits.

This role is about spending meaningful time together, helping him access the community safely, enjoy his weekends, and giving his parents a well-earned break.

About the Role

The gentleman you will be supporting is non-verbal with limited vocabulary, so communication comes through actions, gestures and behaviour. He may walk or pull in the direction he wants to go or guide you towards something that interests him.

He enjoys:

  • Walking
  • Being outdoors
  • Nature and local outings
  • Exploring the community

Because of this, we are looking for someone who is naturally observant, attentive and patient. Someone who notices the little things and can confidently support him safely whilst out in the community.

What We’re Looking For

This role would suit someone who:

  • Has experience supporting people with learning disabilities
  • Is calm, patient and observant
  • Is confident working independently
  • Understands that communication is not always verbal
  • Enjoys being outdoors and active
  • Is reliable and able to commit to regular weekend availability
  • Can build trust and consistency over time

Essential Requirements

Experience supporting people with learning disabilities
Full UK driving licence
Access to your own vehicle
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
* Right to work in the UK

Hours

1 weekend in every 4
Saturday & Sunday
* 10:00am – 4:00pm

Pay & Contract

£18.00 per hour
Self-employed position

Why Work With Your Care?
