Self-Employed Support Worker

£15/hr | Self-employed | Part-time | Weekdays | Hanham
We are looking for an experienced Support Worker to join our small, friendly dementia day centre in Hanham.
This is a lovely opportunity to be part of a structured, welcoming environment where you can focus on supporting individuals throughout the day, building relationships, and creating a positive experience for everyone attending.
This role is best suited to someone who already has hands-on experience supporting people living with dementia and feels confident providing personal care within a group setting.
Working Pattern
Our day centre runs Monday to Friday, with flexibility across the week:
• Hours: 10:30am – 4:30pm
• Part-time
• Day centre based (no travel between visits)
• Rate: £15 per hour
About the Role
You will be supporting individuals attending our day centre sessions, helping them to feel comfortable, included, and part of the day.
This is a fully client-facing role where you will be present throughout the session, working alongside others to create a calm, safe, and enjoyable environment.
The role includes:
• Supporting individuals to settle in and feel at ease
• Providing personal care where needed, including toileting and continence support
• Encouraging and supporting participation in activities
• Supporting during mealtimes and social interaction
• Keeping the environment tidy and organised throughout the day
• Working as part of a small team within a structured setting
Experience Required (Essential)
This role is not suitable for those new to care.
We are looking for someone who:
• Has at least 1 year of formal experience supporting people living with dementia
• Is confident providing personal care in a respectful and natural way
• Has experience working with older people
• Understands safeguarding, boundaries, and professional practice
• Feels comfortable working in a group environment
Self-Employed Role
This is a self-employed position, which means:
• You choose the days you are available to work
• You are responsible for your own tax and National Insurance
• You will need appropriate self-employed insurance
• You may already be working self-employed and looking to add regular daytime hours
